On Sunday the 31st of October Joyce's Asian Games adventure started. She will write a blog about the Asian Games in Guangzhou (China), in which her horse Wup is going to compete with his Malaysian rider Qabil Ambak.
'Today the Asian Games 2010 adventure started for me. I packed all my stuff at home, drove to the Anky Education Center in Erp (The Netherlands) to pack all the tack and take care of Wup and then we drove all the way to Aachen.
We had to wait a couple of minutes after arrival in Aachen, as we were a bit early. All horses had to enter the quarantine between 14h and 16h. After all the paper work was done and Wup was desinfected (likeall the other horses),Wup could enter his box. His new home for the next eight days.He seems to behappy in there, as part of the door can be opened and he can go outwith his head.
After the briefing with the people of Peden Bloodstock we did some exercising in the evening. This time it was my turn, as Qabil has trained Wup the whole week and went to a show in which he did really well.
I had the honour to be the first one to enter the Main Dressage Stadium under floodlights, wow! Itreminded me of the amazing time that I had back in 2002, when I had the honour to represent myhome country (The Netherlands) in the Small Tour with Berkel I.Dancer.
However I do have to get used to the fact that Wup has a groom now! I am used to do everything myself, but the groom he has now is looking after him really well. But, I will feed him the apples and carrots myself!
