Happy after first competition day

November

Sunday it was the first competition day of the Asian Games in Guangzhou. Malaysia took the bronze in the team dressage, Joyce was proud of Wup and Qabil as they played a big role in the team result.

'Pff, now I think I know what the people feel like that go with me to competitions. I am the kind of 'cool' person when I compete, never nervous, I can always stick to my plan. Okay, sometimes you make a mistake, but I mostly feel that I have everything under control. This time it's not me competing but somebody else with my horse. Also my first big international championship as a trainer. I got a bit stressed when Wup got frightened of a sound at the grandstand, my heartbeak was suddenly 180 I think! But I was very pleased with the eights that he got for shoulder in, pirouettes and extended canter for example.

I was very proud, not only of Qabil and Wup but also of the three girls on the team. They all did a good job and ofcourse they had some mistakes, but they managed to win the bronze with new horses, a very good job. Ispoke on behalf of the team in the press conferenceand it is quite funny when you get a question of one and a half minute in Chinese! Fortunately they had a person that translated everything, also my answer, but I will never know whether he got it right or not....

In Malaysia equestrian was live on the tv,we Europeanssometimes don't realize how big the Asian Games in Asia are.

After the first day of competition I can make a short summary and point out two important things:

- We have to do better in the final
- I WANT TO RIDE AT A BIG CHAMPIONSHIP TOO!'
