Joyce Heuitink
(born in Groenlo, January 19, 1981) is well-known in the Dutch equestrian world. In the period 1997-2005 she won the Dutch National Championships five times with Berkel I.Dancer (Z1, Z2, Juniors and Young Riders), was silver medallist nine times (Z2, Young Riders, ZZ-Licht, ZZ-Zwaar and Small Tour) and was double bronze medallist (Juniors). At six European Championships, she won team gold three times, team silver three times and individual bronze twice.
At the moment she competes the NRPS approved breeding stallion Wup in Grand Prix and in the years before, they were silver medallists in the Z2, ZZ-Licht and Small Tour. They were the 2010 silver medallists in the Small Tour and in the years before they were silver medallists in the Z2 and ZZ-Licht. Joyce is trained and coached by the famous Dutch team trainer Sjef Janssen, also trainer and partner of triple Olympic Champion Anky van Grunsven. For a long time, Joyce was employed at their Anky Education Center in Erp, where Wup and Sambuca van de Helle are stabled.
Apart from her career as a rider, Joyce has become an equestrian multi-tasker. She is the team coach and trainer of the Dutch Paralympic dressage squad. She judges up to Intermediaire I, is eventing fence judge, teaches, works as equestrian tv commentator for Eurosport, has translated, written and published equestrian books, and hosts clinics. She also uses some of her sporthorses for breeding purposes, to make sure she has follow up for the future.
